The Free Your Run campaign began in the summer when Nike invited the Nike Running community to submit epic run ideas. Nike then selected ten finalists that included routes through the Maldives, the banks of the Lijiang River in China, and the eventual winning run through the untouched beauty of Iceland.
Thousands of athletes made their movement count in the Nike+ “Free Your Run” campaign that culminated in Iceland last weekend. Runners from the Nike+ community submitted their ideas for dream runs and then fueled the campaign running and dedicating over 57,000 kilometers to make the epic #RUNVIKING a physical reality.
This unique online activation marks the first time Nike Running used physical activity as the voting currency to motivate its social communities. Both the creator of #RUNVIKING and the top-ten kilometer contributors traveled to Iceland for this running experience of a lifetime
